Imagine checking under a child’s bed for monsters, and instead of a harmless shadow or misplaced toy, you find a real-life intruder staring back at you.

That’s precisely what happened to a babysitter in Kansas, leading to the arrest of 27-year-old Martin Villalobos Jr.

The babysitter got a real-life scare when they looked under a child’s bed to check for “monsters” only to find a grown man hiding there.

Barton County Sheriff’s deputies rushed to the home on Monday night after the babysitter made the shocking discovery around 10:30 p.m. The child told their parents there was a “monster” under the bed, which led to them checking and eventually calling the police.

When the babysitter looked under the bed to comfort the child, they were shocked to find 27-year-old Martin Villalobos Junior hiding underneath.

According to the police statement, “One child complained there was a “monster” under their bed. When the victim attempted to show the child there was nothing under the bed, she came face-to-face with a male suspect who was hiding there.

“An altercation ensued with the babysitter, and one child was knocked over in the struggle. The suspect then fled the scene before deputies arrived.”

When police arrived, the victim recognized the intruder as 27-year-old Martin Villalobos Jr., who had previously lived there. The following day, deputies spotted Villalobos, and after a brief foot chase, they caught and arrested him.

Villalobos Jr., 27, was taken to Barton County Jail, where he was booked on multiple charges, including aggravated kidnapping, burglary, battery, child endangerment, felony obstruction, and violating a protection order.

He remains in custody with a bond set at $500,000.
